Tambuwal’s information commissioner reportedly defects to APC

The commissioner for information in Sokoto state, Barrister Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has reportedly defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to The Sun newspapers, Goronyo until his defection was the state information commissioner and chairman of publicity committee of the PDP campaign for the forthcoming general elections.

Goronyo announced his defection on Tuesday, February 5, at the flag off campaign rally of the APC held in Wamakko, the hometown of Senator Aliyu, Magatakarda Wamakko, the leader of the party in the state.

Goronyo’s defection was cheered by thousands of party supporters who thronged the campaign rally. He, however, did not state his reasons for abandoning the PDP and Tambuwal’s government to join the opposition party in the state.

Meanwhile, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has made some revelation concerning the cold political relationships between him and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the APC.

He also revealed what happened between the APC leader, the president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, and Governor Abdul’aziz Yari of Zamfara state.

In an exclusive interview with Vanguard, Tambuwal said Saraki offended Tinubu by kicking against the latter’s plot to run on the same ticket with President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

According to him, Saraki believed that a Muslim-Muslim ticket would not help the success of the then newly formed APC.

The governor also said prior to the emergence of the leadership of the National Assembly, he and Yari met with Tinubu in Lagos to intimate him of developments and make him realize that the odds favoured Yakubu Dogara.
