A staff with an old generation bank in Akure, Ondo state, Nofisat Adetutu Ibrahim, has been murdered by some suspected assassins.
According to the victim’s sister, Aminat Ibrahim, Nofisat was killed on Wednesday, August 28, at the Oke Ogba area of Akure South local government area of the state around 7:30 pm.
Aminat says the assassins entered the shop where Nofisat transacted with her POS machine and attacked her Nofisat Adetutu Ibrahim, a staff with an old generation bank in Akure, Ondo state, has been murdered by some suspected assassins.
Ibrahim was killed on Wednesday, August 28, at the Oke Ogba area of Akure South local government area of the state around 7:30 pm.
According to information gathered was that late Nofisat was in charge of ‘Point Of Sale’ (POS) in the bank branch located in Oja Oba. Reports had gone viral on Thursday that the 30-year-old victim was attacked by armed robbers.
Aminat ibrahim, one of the relations of Nofisat who confirmed the case to our correspondent on Friday, August 30, said the victim was killed by assassins.
Aminat said the assassin who were numbering about three came with a motorbike and decided to disguised as customers. She said: “The three guys (assassins) entered the shop where Nofisat transacted with her POS machine at Oke Ogba. “They pretended as if they wanted to do transactions and immediately they pounced on her and began to strangulate her.
“During that process she managed to escape and they chased her to the point where she was shot at twice and died.” Aminat further explained that when the killers attacked Nofisat and noticed she had died, they fled immediately from the scene with their bike.
She said: “The killers had to run into the thin air with their bike when they killed her and escaped from the scene.
“So, it was the gun shot that forced those in the area to run for their life thinking it was a robbery incident. “It was not a robbery case because her money was very much intact and the assassins did not steal any thing from the shop. “And I am aware that Nofisat had earlier been threatened by a popular Akure business woman known as Mama Gold over POS machine.
“The woman threatened to deal with her because she did not grants her request for a POS location within the state.” Nofisat has been buried by her families according to Islamic rites after an autopsy was carried out on her corpse. However, it was gathered that the case had been reported at the Fanibi police station in Akure.
Omolayo Adams, divisional police officer in charge of the Fanibi station, declined comments when contacted.
But Femi Joseph, spokesperson for the Ondo state police command, confirmed the incident when called on the telephone.
Joseph, a deputy superintendent of police, said the police were on the trail of the perpetrators and that they would soon be brought to book. He said: “I learnt that the incident happened on Wednesday and we have already started our investigations on it. “And I can assure the public and the family members that we would arrest the perpetrators. “The commissioner of police has already met with divisional police officers in the state over the case and we are already rejigging our security architectures.”
Meanwhile, News Report Says that Hon Sulaiman Ibrahim Dabo, the Kaduna state House of Assembly member representing Zaria constituency who was kidnapped, had been released by his abductors. The release was confirmed by a source in Zaria who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorised by the victim to speak with journalists.
