The Edo State Police command has arrested some of the irate young men who stripped a lady naked and inserted pepper inside her private part for allegedly stealing a mobile phone.
Baclad TV News understands that the yet-to-be-identified lady was completely stripped naked by her accusers in Benin city in Edo State following the allegation.
The men also filmed the brutal torture, which was meted out on the accused and posted the video online, which has now gone viral.
According to reports, the lady had lodged in a hotel with a man who later claimed his phone went missing after their hot romp.
The man then dragged the accused to a native doctor around Ugbiyokho area of Ekehuan Road, Benin, where she was summarily declared guilty by a notorious “oracle.”
Her denial of the allegation prompted the native doctor and his apprentices to subject her to jungle justice by stripping her naked and inserting fresh pepper into her vagina.[the_ad id=”43945″]
However, the state police have now launched a manhunt for the doctor and his apprentice, while the other men involved in the dastardly act, are already in police custody.
Also, it was learned that the manager of the hotel the accused lodged briefly in Benin City has been arrested.
Baclad TV News had reported the League of Patriotic Lawyers had earlier ordered Edo State Commissioner of Police, Olusegun Odumosu, to unravel those behind the torture of the lady.
Chairman of the platform and former Student Union President of the University of Benin, Abubakar Yesufu, urged the state Director, Department of State Services, DSS, to be involved in the investigation.
In a statement on Tuesday, Yesufu said: “The League of Patriotic Lawyers has given the Edo State Commissioner of Police 24 hours to arrest and commence prosecution of all the street urchins behind this barbaric, inhuman, wicked, ungodly and unacceptable act, whose video has gone viral on the social media.[the_ad id=”42905″]
“Failure to unravel the perpetrators would lead to serious legal consequences against the various security agencies, especially the Police and Director of DSS in the state. This ungodly act shows that law and order have broken down in Benin.
“We call on the governor, who is undoubtedly unaware of this devilish act, and the Secretary to the State Government, a very hard working and God-fearing man, to ensure that the perpetrators are tracked and punished accordingly.”
“We are not concerned about the merit of this case at this moment, but the exhibition of extreme cruelty which is completely alien to our revered culture and tradition,’’ stated Yesufu.
