Improving Nigeria’s Football Leagues, Sports Minister Plans to Meet Stakeholders on Way Forward

Youth and Sports Development Minister Sunday Dare promised to meet with all key stakeholders to develop a strategic plan on how to improve national leagues.

The minister told Lagos on Tuesday that his promise was consistent with his quest for inclusion in the sport after watching the Nigeria Women’s Premier League (NWPL) match between Rivers Angels and Confluence Queens.

Dare also said it is important to ensure that stakeholders are aware of the development of this sport.

“We will meet with all the major stakeholders at the end of November to begin developing a strategic plan to improve the national league.”

“As I said before, it is very important, it is the engine room of our football development, that’s where we produce our professional players who can go abroad.

“We will pay special attention to working with the NFF, club owners, referees and coaches to isolate and resolve problems,” he said in a statement from his special media advisor. Kola Daniel Dare reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Sports to pay special attention to other sports and added that there was a clear direction on what strategy the ministry would use to develop the sport

“The ministry’s commitment to supporting other sports is firm, we begin by making a statement to support other sports.” “I saw football, badminton, handball, basketball, and athletics.

“This shows our clear direction, indicates the direction we are taking and, in the coming months, we will make sure to provide resources and support through private funds.” We will support almost all critical sports, about 11 of them in which the country has a competitive advantage, especially the Olympic Games before Tokyo 2020, “he said.

Dare praised the talents shown by women and promised to support more women’s football in the country. “The question should be: with this level of professional skills observed among soccer players, what would the ministry do to help them?

“I am impressed by the performance of our players. We saw professional women’s football at its best and saw the talent show.

“We know that some of our players are heading to the Professional League outside of this country.”

“All I can say is that the department will work in partnership with the federation.” We will also try to make sure we have the sponsorship to help them improve, “he said.

He added that he had held two high-level parallel meetings, focusing on youth development and sports, before watching the last NWPL game at Agege Stadium in Lagos

After the brilliant performance of the Super Eagles against Selecao Sunday in Singapore, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare, called them “Dream Team”.

Dare said this during an interview with journalists during his visit to the camp of a private sports initiative “Making of Champions” at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Monday in Lagos.

The Nigeria News Agency (NAN) announced that the Super Eagles had a deserved 1-1 draw against the Brazilian star team at the National Stadium in Singapore. The Super Eagles made their first appearance in the 34th minute thanks to Joe Aribo, the Glasgow Rangers midfielder, who found the net despite the goal of the Brazilian defenders.

The Brazilian Carlos Casemiro, 27, of Real Madrid saved the day by canceling the dizziness of Aribo in the 46th minute of the second period. Dare said the team had a bright future since the average age of the players was an undeniable advantage.

“I tweeted a few seconds after the game, and from what I’ve seen, we have many talented players.” The average age of the players is between 20 and 23 years; He is quite young. “What we have in our hands is a great opportunity to train a new generation of Nigerian players who play in the great professional clubs of the world.”

“What we must do is keep them together in training. What we saw on the screen was a great talent and, of course, we saw areas where we needed to improve.” The coach must also have seen areas to improve. “These young people are the dream team and when we face the Republic of Benin, we will certainly succeed in victory, “he said
