Burna Boy Wins BET Award

Nigerian Afro-fusion singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly called Burna Boy has won the Best International Act at the just concluded BET awards.

We gathered that he received the award ahead of his Nigerian counterpart, Teni Makanaki.

Accepting the Award on his behalf, mother and manager of the artiste, Bose Ogulu, expressed her excitement at the achievement of her son.

In her message delivery, while accepting the honour for “Best International Act” at the BET Awards, she appreciated the organisers of the award as well as those who supported the award-winning singer in getting another one.

Ogulu who has accepted trophies for the “ye” crooner in the past also came with a quick word for African-Americans.

She said, “Thank you very much BET, thank you, Africa. That is the constituency for which we got noticed. The message from Burna would be that every black person should please remember that you were Africans before you became anything else.”

She further took to Twitter to emphasize the message, saying, ”remember you were African before anything else.” Amazing isn’t it???

Burna boy while reacting to his mum’s comment via his Twitter handle commented, ”Mama burna for president !!! The woman de drop bars.” he wrote.
